As the UK’s largest independent provider of research, assessment and information for education, NFER makes a difference to learners of all ages by helping improve practice and understanding.
The Research Operations Department undertakes survey administration, test trialling and data collection projects for NFER’s broad portfolio of work, working to both internal and external clients. We run several products and service projects and panel surveys.
General responsibilities will include:
- planning and coordinating a range of survey administration or data collection projects
- sampling
- enlisting the participation of schools (or others)
- effective administration of dispatch and receipt of materials
- developing of online surveys
- monitoring and maximising response rates
- writing a range of materials, eg project reports
We are looking for bright enthusiastic candidates educated to degree level in a subject that contains an element of mathematics, statistics or computer science or other numerate or business focused discipline. Candidates may have recently come out of university or may be experienced.
Candidates will need: good organisational, and written and verbal communication skills; good Excel skills and the ability to learn new software and database packages easily. SPSS syntax experience and use of Bellview online survey tools are desirable. Experience in research or education (although we will consider new graduates with a genuine interest in these areas). Experience in teaching and knowledge of project management methodologies would be desirable.
As a Researcher in Research Operations, you would need to be versatile, flexible and happy to work across several different types of project at once. Every project is different so we need team players who are committed to providing the best possible service to our customers. Research Operations is a friendly, hard-working and successful team.
