Claire is a Senior Research Officer in the Department for Research in Assessment and Measurement. She has a special interest in Assessment for Learning and classroom assessment.

Claire currently works on the Key Stage 2 English tests and the development of optional skills assessment materials for use in Wales. She is also researching Assessment for Learning related to primary science.

Prior experience and professional background

Prior to working at NFER, Claire taught in a 3-form entry junior school.

Since joining NFER, she has worked on a range of projects including development of Single Level Tests for reading and writing, Key Stage 2 National Curriculum tests in Science and the optional English tests for years 3, 4 and 5. Claire was involved in the PIRLS 2006 survey and has recently been working on the development of formative e-assessment tests in science.

Claire has Practitioner status of AEA-Europe.
