The NFER Research Programme

The NFER Research Programme

NFER is developing its own programme of research to focus on important, undeveloped research areas within education where we feel that our research skills and depth of subject expertise could offer a valuable insight and contribution into improving the education and wellbeing of learners.

The NFER Research Programme is jointly funded by NFER in collaboration with organisations and individuals who have a strong interest in these topics and share our values and objectives.

The NFER Research Programme currently consists of two areas of work:

  • From Education to Employment
With the latest government figures showing over one million young people not in education, employment or training (NEET), research is underway to examine approaches that help young people carve themselves a path through education into employment.
  • Developing the Education Workforce
Projects in this area seek to identify how excellence inteaching and learning can be promoted and effectively spread to secure the best possible outcomes for young people.
