OECD International Studies

NFER is responsible for two OECD projects in the UK: PISA and ISAS

The OECD’s Programme for International Student Assessment (PISA) evaluates the quality, equity and efficiency of school systems in some 70 countries that, together, make up nine-tenths of the world economy. It is the world's biggest international education survey and asseses the knowledge and skills of 15-year-olds in mathematics, reading and science.

The Programme for the International Assessment of Adult Competencies (PIAAC) aims to identify and measure differences between individuals and countries in competencies believed to underlie both personal and societal success. In England and Northern Ireland the study (known as ISAS - International Survey of Adult Skills) is conducted by a consortium led by NFER on behalf of the Department for Business Innovation and Skills.
