Three questions submitted by asked about classroom based support staff and cover for unplanned absence. Overall, the findings suggest that many schools were making best use of their support staff and promoting greater integrated working between teachers and support staff to some extent. However, the results suggest there is room for further progress, particularly in regard to the finding that nearly one third of schools may still be using internal teachers rather than HLTAs or cover supervisors on a relatively regular basis to provide supervision for absent teachers.
