NFER has a very successful range of assessment products which enables primary schools to monitor progress and measure achievement. We are also responsible for high profile national projects including the new Reception Baseline Assessment and the National Reference Test. We undertake national and international projects developing educational and non-cognitive assessments, as well as working with governments on capacity building in assessment and maintain a research and training portfolio.

We have a range of new opportunities to join the team;

  • Researchers/Test Developer – developing assessments, conducting research and contributing to the development of research proposals. The role requires a relevant degree (English, Mathematics, Psychology or a Science); research skills; experience of work in UK schools.
  • Digital Researcher - eAssessment - working on test development focused in the area of eAssessment, conducting research and contributing to the development of research proposals. The role requires good technical skills including HTML and CSS; effective communication skills including with non-technical staff; interest in educational assessment.
  • Senior Technical Researcher - to be involved in a range of eAssessment development and related projects. The role requires experience in eAssessment development including innovation, gained in industry or education; experience of project and people management and very effective communication skills.
  • Senior Researcher/Project Director - to direct or lead the day-to-day progress and delivery of assessment projects, focusing on the large and complex ones. The role requires extensive experience in educational / vocational / psychological / technical assessment; management experience; experience of work in/with schools. Specific areas of responsibility will be agreed based on expertise and the overall needs of the team.
