ICT Helpdesk Support Officer
This is a full time - 35 hours, permanent role based in Slough
Salary: Circa £23,000 depending on qualifications and experience.
Our expanding and busy Information, Communication and Technologies (ICT) Service team are looking to appoint an ICT Helpdesk Support Officer to provide first line Helpdesk support to staff in the NFER offices in Slough, Llanelli and York. We are a close working team and there will be an opportunity for involvement and development in other areas of the department’s work.
Reporting to the Systems and Support Manager your key responsibilities will include:
- Providing technical support, advice and help for users of approved hardware and software
- Providing technical support on the telephony platform
- Installing, testing and maintaining computer and telephony hardware and software
- Evaluating hardware and software to meet requirements specifications
- Testing, documenting and maintaining programs and applications using standard languages or packages.
You will be required to work to agreed IT Support section standards and ensure that you keep up to date with relevant IT techniques, hardware and software.
- You’ll be naturally friendly and helpful with a good face to face and telephone manner and demonstrate excellent communication skills
- You’ll be a problem solver who will manage your work load and work well with others
- You’ll have knowledge of Microsoft applications (Office 2016, SharePoint) and an understanding of Windows 8 and Windows 10
- Experience of supporting a Windows domain environment is desirable
