BELMAS Structural Reform Research Interest Group (RIG) Meeting - 'Executive headteachers: key players in emerging school landscapes'

4 April 2017, thestudio, 7 Cannon St, Birmingham, B2 5EP

Senior Research Manager Pippa Lord presented NFER research on the role of executive headteachers at this meeting of practitioners and researchers. She also shared a practical guide for school leaders and governors considering creating the role in their schools or multi-academy trust.

NFER carried out the research in partnership with Ambition School Leadership (formerly The Future Leaders Trust) and the National Governors’ Association, and created the guide in partnership with Leadership Matters.

Pippa is a Senior Research Manager in NFER’s Centre for Evaluation and Consultancy and is a member of NFER’s Education Trials Unit. She is currently leading two evaluations for the Education Endowment Foundation’s Research Use projects focusing on teachers’ engagement with and use of research evidence. These include the evaluation of Evidence for the Frontline, a brokerage service that is intended to guide teachers to relevant research to make evidence-informed decisions, and the evaluation of the Literacy Octopus, a multi-armed trial of how evidence-based support can best be disseminated and provided to schools.
