NFER working with Full Fact to support factchecking during 2015 Election

31 March 2015

NFER is, for the first time, working together with Full Fact, the independent fact checking organisation, in a bid to ensure the most accurate information possible on key education topics is heard during the 2015 election campaign.

NFER experts will be on hand to support the Full Fact election team with evidence-based knowledge throughout the final five weeks in the run up to the election on May 7, particularly during the leadership debates.

In addition NFER and Full Fact are producing a series of briefings on key education topics:

The work is part of the NFER’s first election programme of activities commenting on election issues. This includes a series of election blog posts, NFER Thinks policy papers, a review of research on academies and a parent survey of views.

Chief Executive, Carole Willis, commented: “Elections are always a time when evidence is contested. So it is really exciting to be part of the FullFact taskforce, sharing our evidence-based knowledge on key areas, particularly during the leadership debates, to ensure that the facts get a fair hearing in the run-up to the election.”

Full Fact's Director, Will Moy, commented: “We're delighted to be working with NFER and other leading expert organisations, who'll be stepping up to share their knowledge with us and the public during the campaign. With NFER's input, we’ll be able to bring our most effective methods to bear on more claims and respond a lot faster..”
