What we do
Working Directly in the Field
NFER has increasingly developed its work directly with groups of schools and local authorities as facilitators of innovation, change and improvement. Drawing on the research expertise, evidence and skills of NFER and Futurelab, we work with practitioners and leaders to develop their local capacity for gathering and using evidence effectively to drive improvement and to the direct benefit of practitioners. These activities tend to be highly tailored and co-created to meet specific needs. Wherever possible we share the outcomes of such work more widely for the benefit of the whole sector.
We work directly with two groups of customers in this area;
The Futurelab Enquiring Schools programme seeks to work with schools to enable school improvement through practical school-based enquiry projects. This is a tailored and facilitator led approach to identify changes schools want to see in their students’ learning. Some schools see the programme as helping with their capacity to improve, while others see it as a way to stay at the leading edge.
Working in partnership with research in practice, NFER has developed a tailored service for local authorities. The new research, evaluation and analysis support network (reason) is co-led by NFER, research in practice and research in practice for adults. Reason provides peer support and opportunities to share learning, tools and resources to understand and carry out evaluations, access to a wide range of learning opportunities, and bespoke support from experts for your evaluation.
