Angela started working for NFER in May 2015 as a Research Director in the Centre for Assessment. She is currently directing the new National Reference Test project which is intended to provide information on the performance of 16-year-olds; the outcomes of which will be taken into account when GCSEs are awarded.

Before joining NFER, Angela worked for the Qualifications and Curriculum Authority for several years where she held a number of positions including the Head of Test Development. In this role she successfully oversaw the development of statutory National Curriculum tests at Key Stages 1, 2 and 3 and also non-statutory tests and assessments including Year 7 progress tests, optional tests and single level tests.

Angela has extensive experience in programme management in assessment and qualifications contexts, leadership of large multi-disciplinary teams, and maintaining good working relationships with specialist agencies, government sponsors and regulatory bodies.

She has also previously worked at the International Baccalaureate (IB) as a Senior Global Recognition Manager where her main responsibilities included regulation and accreditation of the IB and its qualifications by relevant accreditation bodies around the world.

Angela has a degree in History and Politics. She is also a qualified Prince2® practitioner.
