Caroline works on research and evaluation projects on a variety of themes, but tends to specialise in early childhood education and the arts, creative and cultural education. Her work on early childhood education includes studies of the influence of season of birth on educational outcomes, transition to key stage 1, children’s centre leadership, targeting services on the most needy families and baseline assessment. Her work on arts, creative and cultural education includes studies of In Harmony and music education hubs, Creative Partnerships, cultural partnerships, and quality frameworks for the cultural sector. Caroline also has a strong interest in schools’ use of research evidence, having investigated research-engaged schools and young researchers, and helped develop a survey to measure schools’ use of research evidence.
