Board of Trustees
Colin Green is an independent consultant. He has a BA (Hons) in Geography and History from St. Catharine's College, Cambridge University, and an MBA from the Open University.
Colin is a social worker by professional background. At the beginning of his career, he served as a team manager at Westminster City Council (1980–1989). He then had various senior and middle management roles in social services at Hertfordshire County Council from 1993 to 1998. Colin has significant experience in children’s services. He was Assistant Director for Children's Services in Cambridgeshire for nearly six years (1998–2004) and, after that, Director of Children's Services for Coventry City Council from 2007 to 2013. He also worked for the Department for Education and Skills as policy lead for Safeguarding Children from 2004 to 2006. Colin now works as an independent social worker and social care consultant.
Colin was Chair of the Association of Directors of Children's Services (ADCS) Families, Communities and Young People's Policy Committee, and a member of ADCS Council of Reference for four years.
Colin has a long standing interest in research and its application. He has sat on research advisory boards for the DfE and been actively involved with Research in Practice for many years. He has been a Trustee of NFER since 2008.
