Pippa is a Senior Research Manager in NFER’s Centre for Evaluation and Consultancy. She has extensive experience of leading multi-method evaluations combining qualitative and quantitative approaches to produce robust findings fit for purpose, for a wide range of clients including DfE, EEF, LGA, Arts Council England, Royal Society of Chemistry and CfBT, as well as previous organisations including the TDA, GTCE and the National College for School Leadership. Pippa has particular experience of leading research on improving outcomes for young people’s learning through teacher development and learner interventions, across a range of areas including STEM, arts and literacy, in schools and other settings including children’s centres.

Pippa is a member of NFER’s Education Trials Unit. She is currently leading a national trial commissioned by EEF exploring how best to support primary schools’ literacy improvement through evidence-based materials. She is also leading the first national trial in this country of Families and Schools Together (FAST). She is also working with around 30 schools to evaluate a pilot of an evidence brokerage service; and has recently worked with Arts Council England to pilot the principles underpinning the quality of arts and cultural organisations’ work with children and young people.

Pippa has expertise in conducting national and international literature and evidence reviews. She has produced tools for evaluating the impacts of teacher CPD, school-school learning, and targeting families in greatest need of support. She has extensive experience of report writing and presenting to a wide range of audiences, and is a writing coach within NFER.
