Suzanne Straw is Deputy Head of NFER’s Centre for Evaluation and Consultancy and Head of the York office. She has over nineteen years’ experience of managing and directing a wide range of evaluation and research projects related to education and skills. She has expertise in qualitative and quantitative research methods, with an MSc (with Distinction) in Social Research.

Suzanne leads NFER’s work on the science, technology, engineering and mathematics (STEM) agenda. Her interests also include: teacher and senior leader continuing professional development; tackling pupil disadvantage; post-16 education and training; careers information, advice and guidance; and European collaboration.

Prior to joining NFER, Suzanne was Associate Director at Shared Intelligence, an economic development consultancy, where she led on research and evaluation with a particular focus on: education and skills; workforce development; unemployment and social inclusion. Prior to this, she worked at AECOM as Associate Director (Economic Development) and at West London TEC as Evaluation Manager. In her early career, she was a Careers Adviser working with young people in school, at college and in training and who were unemployed.
