In 2000, a consortium consisting of the NFER, the Centre for Educational Research (CER) and the Centre for Economic Performance (CEP) at the London School of Economics (LSE), and the Institute for Fiscal Studies (IFS) were commisioned to undertake an evaluation of Excellence in Cities (EiC) in secondary schools, to cover the period up to the end of the academic year 2002/2003.
