Development of end of KS1 score predictions using NFER reading and maths assessments

What is the score prediction for?

The year 2 NFER tests have been developed to assess the current national curriculum in year 2 reading and mathematics. The development of the KS1 score predictions will enable teachers to use the results from the NFER tests to make predictions about each pupil’s future performance in the statutory assessments in the summer term.

Who is sponsoring NFER to carry out this work?

The National Foundation for Educational Research (NFER) is self-funding this development project. How have schools been selected to take part? All schools that participated in the development trial for the NFER year 2 reading and mathematics tests have been invited to take part.

What does taking part involve?

We would like the sampled schools’ help with the provision of the KS1 national curriculum assessment results of the children who participated in the NFER tests trial in the autumn term. We will provide schools with a list of pupils whose data was provided for the trial in the autumn and ask that the KS1 national curriculum assessment results for these pupils are provided in order to facilitate the analysis needed to develop the KS1 score predictions.

How will NFER use and protect the data collected?

All information collected during this development exercise will be kept confidential by NFER and no individual or school will be identified in any report. NFER will not disclose names of individuals or schools involved in the tests, either in any reports arising from the use of this data or in any other way. Read the full privacy notice for this project here.
