Challenge Partners have commissioned NFER to undertake a review of their pilot peer review in four Multi-Academy Trusts (MATs). The research aims are:
- to support Challenge Partners in developing a peer review model that is demonstratively improving the performance of MATs
- to identify how effective the model is in providing continual professional development (CPD) opportunities for peer reviewers that in turn, supports improvements in their own MATs.
The findings will inform Challenge Partners plans to roll out the peer review model more widely and potentially provide some indicators around how peer review in MATs contributes to MAT and school improvement.
The methodology comprises:
- a review of Challenge Partners peer review documentation and peer reviewer reports
- interviews with six peer reviewers; key personnel in four MATs; the SLT in up to two schools in each MAT (eight interviews); and two key Challenge Partners members: the two lead peer reviewers.
