Merthyr Tydfil Lifelong Learning Campus: Arts, Media and Culture

This report reviews provision in the arts, media and culture in Merthyr Tydfil and examines stakeholders' opinions about how the County Borough could build on its rich heritage and vibrant cultural life in ways which promote engagement in learning.

The report indicates that there is clarity of vision and genuine enthusiasm for these areas of activity in Merthyr Tydfil and that there is a strong commitment to the inclusion of the arts and culture within lifelong learning provision.

Key Findings

Within this context, the report recommends that:

  • formal partnership arrangements should be developed for all learning providers and community groups in Merthyr Tydfil
  • the CCET should work closely with the Merthyr Tydfil Arts Forum through a formal relationship
  • voluntary groups, particularly those which regularly perform, should be encouraged to offer practical experiences to learners pursuing relevant courses
  • learning providers should continue to monitor their provision to ensure it meets learners' needs and assures quality.

The report also identifies the need for physical build to improve performance facilities and public access to the arts, media and culture.
