Practical Guide to Assessing Writing at Key Stage 2: Volumes 1-4
30 October 2013
These guides will help teachers to assess pupils' writing against the new English curriculum and the particular emphasis on grammar, whilst still using the resources already embedded in lesson plans.
The guides include annotated examples of pupils' writing to assist teachers in making reliable and valid teacher assessments as well as examples of grammatical features and how these develop.
The guides use easy-to use colour coding to identify specific areas to look for in pupils' writing, particularly in relation to the new curriculum and the focus on grammar. They help to assess a pupil's work for evidence to map progress and inform target-setting.
The guides also include next steps for teachers on how to address identified issues and also next steps for pupils to help them understand how to improve their writing.
