The NFER Research Programme
We aim for the research to make a positive difference to the education and wellbeing of learners. This will be achieved through benefiting learners directly, or through improving policy and practice that affects them. The research will:
identify what works
identify how this can be replicated to make interventions work when practice is transferred to new, local contexts.
Throughout the life of the programme, our researchers will use a range of methodologies, including:
Literature review work to map out what is known, identify gaps in research, and pinpoint effective practice which could be to be implemented more widely to maximise positive impact.
Carrying out original research.
From this knowledge base, NFER will identify research questions and specific research and action-research projects to be conducted.
The NFER Research Programme complements and builds on NFER’s extensive portfolio of contract research in this area.
This important research constitutes an opportunity for NFER to have a more active role in setting the research agenda. In addition to this, NFER is committed to maintaining a dialogue with external partners who add value to the research programme through their focus and insights, knowledge and skills sets, and/or financial contributions.
