* If the Grammar and Punctuation tests are undertaken and marked according to the instructions in the teacher guides, both a standardised and an age-standardised score can be derived from a pupil’s test score. Reading and mathematics tests will provide age-related expectation information which is based on large scale standard setting exercises, during which teachers supply judgements about the demand of the tests in relation to the curriculum. In the case of Grammar and punctuation, age-related expectations are likely to adjust considerably as teachers and pupils become more familiar with the relatively new Programme of Study requirements in this area of the curriculum. Therefore age-related expectation information for the Grammar and punctuation tests will not yet be available. A standard setting exercise will be carried out when familiarity with this curriculum area is greater.
