Teacher Guide: Parental Engagement and Narrowing the Gap in Attainment for Disadvantaged Children

This short practical guide sets out the key messages on how to engage parents from disadvantaged groups. We have written it with primary school Senior Leadership Teams in mind. The guide is based on a rapid review of the evidence carried out by NFER and a Department for Education review of best practice parental engagement (Goodall et al., 2011). The Oxford University Press and NFER co-funded this work.
