Value for money assessment
NFER understands how important it is for individual services and third sector organisations to be able to measure value for money (VfM), be it to demonstrate that they are getting value for the tax payer, or that they offer good value to customers or funders. We can carry out VfM assessments for clients, including cost benefit analysis (CBA), cost effectiveness analysis, Social Return on Investment (SROI) analysis and economic analysis. Alternatively, we are able to provide clients with the tools and support to carry out their own assessments.
Examples of our work in this area include:
Developing a framework and a series of metrics for a local authority to enable it to assess the VfM offered by their multi-agency safeguarding service.
Supporting a cluster of local authorities to assess the VfM of using the CAF (Common Assessment Framework). Scenario analysis from 80 indicative case studies enabled us to quantify the potential savings (costs avoided) of early intervention.
Supporting a local authority to develop its evaluation of the VfM offered by one of its services, by specifying an evaluation design and VfM indicators.
