In November, NFER will be publishing the final report for the ‘Skills Imperative 2035 Programme’, funded by the Nuffield Foundation.
To coincide with the report, we will be holding a launch event, chaired by Steph McGovern. NFER has been leading a large-scale five-year programme to identify the essential employment skills people will need for work by 2035.
The event will feature a presentation from NFER, sharing the key findings from the five-year research programme. Speakers will include:
- Sarah Maclean CBE (Co-CEO of Skills England)
- The Rt Hon Lord Willetts (President of the Resolution Foundation and former Universities and Science Minister)
- Fiona Aldridge (CEO of the Skills Federation and Skills England Board Member)
- Amjad Ali (School Senior Leader and TEDx speaker)
The final report will be launched on the day of the event. It is the culmination of eight working papers. Findings will include:
- The projected shape and composition of the future labour market in 2035.
- The identification of a set of essential employment skills, which will be vital for people in work in the future.
- Demand, supply and gaps in workers’ essential employment skills.
- The identification of jobs in decline and employee groups at highest risk of being displaced from the labour market.
