To complement our range of NFER Tests for years 1-6, we are currently developing materials for use in the spring term in years 1 and 2. These new child-friendly assessments can be used alongside our existing year 1 summer and year 2 autumn assessments to help you take a consistent approach to attainment and progress monitoring in key stage 1. They will enable you to:
- identify areas for ongoing development and support midway through the key stage 1 years
- highlight areas of the curriculum where performance is higher or lower than expectations, with the help of diagnostic information
- build familiarity and confidence in children taking assessments ahead of the national curriculum tests.
Visit the order now page to pre-order year 1 and 2 spring assessments online. Pre-ordered spring assessment materials will be dispatched at the end of the autumn term 2019 for use in the spring term 2020.
Inform teaching and learning with diagnostic guides, included with all spring teacher guides.
Our year 1 and 2 spring materials include diagnostic guidance to help you identify gaps in learning and support further teaching. Diagnostic commentaries are provided for test questions for which pupils in our large nationally representative sample systematically made similar errors and demonstrate widespread misunderstanding or misconceptions. The percentage of pupils who answered the question correctly is shown alongside information about common errors and implications for teaching, to help inform your next steps. Find out more here.
