Teaching and assessing year 6 writing

Tuesday 23 March 2021

16:00 - 16:50

You can view the recording from the event below:

Offering support to year 6 teachers and literacy leads, this event will explore the challenges of teaching and assessing writing in 2021 and offer some suggested approaches as to how these might be addressed. It will introduce Bite into Writing – a new educational resource from NFER. Participants will be able to engage with the authors, who will introduce its features and benefits, and discuss how it can support reading, writing and assessment in year 6.

Written by Margaret Fennell and Jo Shackleton, who have played a key role in producing national standardisation and training materials, each Bite into Writing book is developed by working closely with teachers, who have tried out and evaluated the teaching and learning materials. Margaret and Jo will talk through their approach to inspiring pupils’ writing through the use of quality texts, and how the books can offer guidance for teacher assessment.

A moderated Q&A session will be held after the presentation, where we will encourage participants to ask questions.

The event is managed in accordance with our privacy notice. We will be recording the event and, by registering onto this event, you are agreeing to NFER’s privacy notice.
