Understanding young people’s knowledge, attitudes and behaviours towards tech careers

NFER have been funded by the Hg Foundation to develop a new survey to help understand young people’s views about and interest in having a career in tech.

This work is being undertaken as part of an evaluation of the Speakers for Schools (SfS) IntoTech programme but is being funded separately.

This research aims to help support the development of a new survey to understand young people’s views about and interest in having a career in Tech.

State secondary schools in England who are not participating in the SfS IntoTech programme.

Participant schools will be asked to administer an anonymous 20–30-minute online survey to a group of Year 10 students.

By taking part in this survey, your school will be contributing to the development of a measure that will be used by
educational researchers to explore how pupils react to STEM interventions.

The project will run from January to August 2025.  There will be two stages of survey development with pupil survey administration in February and May 2025. Schools are invited to participate in either the February or May pupil survey.

Recruitment for this trial has been completed.
