Early Intervention: Children at Risk

Gordon Mott

13 September 2006

This report examines the good practice and innovative approaches evident in the work of the seven short listed authorities, including two Fire and Rescue Services, which submitted applications under this theme in round seven of the Beacon scheme.

Developments are charted in the report, both at policy and planning level, as authorities formulate their response to the Every Child Matters agenda and leading edge practice is highlighted as the authorities bed down their partnerships and implement information sharing systems. The carefully calibrated and data-driven approaches set up to support the identification of needs are examined, together with the imaginative and innovative ways of collecting the views of children, young people and their families.
