Providing for Young People: Local Authority Youth Services in the 1990s
01 February 1996
This report presents findings from a one-year study into local authority youth service provision in England and Wales. In addition, six popular youth-work initiatives taking place in different local authorities are explored in detail and provide an insight into the key issue of what attracts and sustains young people's involvement with the youth service, according to the young people themselves and youth workers involved in these projects. These case studies highlight the crucial role of youth workers in delivering high-quality work that is relevant to young people, as well as the importance of raising awareness of, and adequately funding, youth-work initiatives.
