NFER is hosting a free event to launch of The Skills Imperative 2035 final report at Church House, which will be chaired by the BBC’s Steph McGovern.
For the last five years, we have been leading a large-scale programme called ‘The Skills Imperative 2035’, funded by The Nuffield Foundation, to identify the essential employment skills people will need for work by 2035.
The event will feature a presentation from NFER sharing the key findings from the programme, followed by a panel discussion, a reception and an opportunity for networking.
Speakers will include:
- Sarah Maclean CBE (Co-CEO of Skills England)
- The Rt Hon Lord Willetts (President of the Resolution Foundation and former Universities and Science Minister)
- Carole Willis (CEO of NFER)
- Gavin Kelly (CEO of Nuffield Foundation)
- Fiona Aldridge (CEO of the Skills Federation and Skills England Board Member)
- Robert West (Head of Skills at CBI)
- Amjad Ali (Trust CPD & Inclusion Lead at Chiltern Learning Trust and TEDx speaker)
- Jude Hillary (Principal Investigator for The Skills Imperative 2035 and Co-Head of Policy and Practice at NFER)
The final report will be launched on the day of the event. It is the culmination of eight working papers. Findings will include:
- The projected shape and composition of the future labour market in 2035.
- The identification of a set of essential employment skills, which will be vital for people in work in the future.
- Demand, supply and gaps in workers’ essential employment skills.
- The identification of jobs in decline and employee groups at highest risk of being displaced from the labour market.
