This work aims to evaluate the impact of Youth Future Foundation’s ‘Building Futures’ early intervention programme on the educational outcomes of 4000 secondary school students at risk of becoming Not in Education, Employment or Training (NEET). The programme launched in 2024, with a ‘test and learn’ phase to strengthen understanding of mentoring interventions, NEET risk factors and promising components of programme delivery.
An initial aim is to scope the evaluation and assess the feasibility of using a randomised or a quasi-experimental evaluation design to estimate programme impacts.
The scoping and feasibility stage of the project is being conduced between June 2026 and October 2026, with an evaluation stage planned for October 2026 – December 2028.
