Pupil Premium Conference 2021

Tuesday 23 March 2021

09:00 – 16:00

London

The Covid-19 crisis and the subsequent closure of schools could result in a significant further widening of the disadvantage gap. Steps therefore need to be taken to minimise this impact and the future disruption to disadvantaged and vulnerable pupils.

In an NFER report Schools' responses to Covid-19: The challenges facing schools and pupils in September 2020, nearly all teachers estimate that their pupils are behind in their curriculum learning. Over half of teachers estimate that the learning gap between disadvantaged pupils and their peers has widened.

Ensuring your Pupil Premium strategy is effectively closing attainment gaps, NFER’s Research Director Caroline Sharp will be at the event to discuss:

  • The impact of Covid-19 on widening the attainment gap
  • Identifying and overcoming barriers and challenges
  • Successful strategies for narrowing the attainment gap
  • How to continuously raise achievement in your school

The conference will also assess priorities beyond attainment, including wellbeing and mental health support, student-centred approaches and behaviour management.
