Westminster Education Forum are holding their ‘Priorities for raising attainment in England’s schools’ conference to address key factors contributing to the attainment gap across England’s schools.

At 9.35am, NFER’s Head of Classroom Practice and Workforce, Dr Ben Styles, will be giving a keynote session on ‘What is the evidence on the effectiveness of tutoring and how might it be put into practice?’. Dr Styles will be drawing on research from NFER’s ‘Evaluation of year 1 of the National Tutoring Programme Tuition Partners and Academic Mentoring’ report, which finds that most schools were satisfied with the quality of tuition, and with the programme overall. The majority of schools felt the programme had ‘helped pupils catch up with their peers’ and ‘improved pupils’ confidence’.
