At this research symposium, three new pieces of research are being discusses that bring employer engagement and real-world learning to the forefront of education for 14-19 year olds, delivered by the Edge Foundation and The Commercial Education Trust.
David Sims, NFER Research Director, is at the event discussing the evaluation of University Technical Colleges. David specialises in research into education-to-employment transitions, 14 to 19 education and work-related learning. He is an executive member of the Forum for Access and Continuing Education, a UK network for widening participation, and gave evidence to the House of Commons Education Select Committee Inquiry on Apprenticeships and Traineeships for 16 to 19 year-olds in 2015.
