This conference is being held by Government Events and will focus on the latest updates on funding and policy from key decision makers. Attendees will also hear a range of best practice case studies from experts within the education sector on a range of subjects, including teacher retention, cross-school collaboration and innovative teaching. There will be the opportunity to network with senior colleagues from a range of organisations, sharing key challenges and solutions.

At 10:00am, NFER’s Lead Economist, Jack Worth, will deliver a keynote address ‘Increasing Teacher Recruitment and Retention in STEM’:

  • Exploring the background of teacher supply and the changes brought on by Covid-19 and recession, particularly for STEM teachers
  • Sharing insights to why STEM teachers are more likely to leave than teachers of other subjects
  • Using this information to provide long-lasting solutions that will ensure pupils receive more consistent, engaging and focused teaching
  • The role in science education and teacher workload played by school science technicians.
