The School Leadership Conference 2021: Driving School Improvements in Uncertain Times

Covid-19 plunged the UK’s education system into a period of uncertainty as school closures interrupted key learning and exam cancellations cast doubt on students’ futures. As a result of this, early research pointed towards a deepening of the attainment gap and severe disruption to school curriculums. Further, challenging issues remain that pre-date Covid-19; how can headteachers and academy leaders build a productive school culture based on ambitious values? How can the school workforce be best supported to improve wellbeing and enhance teacher retention?
Join The School Leadership Conference 2021: Driving School Improvements in Uncertain Times by Government Events to hear the most effective steps school leaders can take to ensure students and staff are as supported as possible in line with the latest guidance from central bodies. The event will also showcase examples of best practice in school leadership, highlighting the most effective methods to recover from Covid-19 and create an engaging school culture amongst other valuable advice. There is also the opportunity to network with colleagues working across the school leadership network, collaborating to identify best practice ways of working.
At 14:05, Dr Ben Styles, NFER’s Head of Education Trials Unit, will be on the panel discussion ‘Leading Schools and Academies Through Covid-19 to Turn the Tide on the Attainment Gap’. Also on the panel will be Sammy Wright, Commissioner of Schools and Higher Education, Social Mobility Commission and Vice Principal at Southmoor Academy and Sam Butters, Co-CEO at Fair Education Alliance.
