Deep Dive – Remote Teaching

The aim of this research project is to take a ‘deep dive’ into schools’ and colleges’ use of remote teaching, both before and during the pandemic. Understanding how schools and colleges have used remote teaching, the tools they used and how they selected and engaged with them, will provide the education sector and policy-makers with useful information.

This will inform evidence-based recommendations for how remote learning can be most effectively deployed in the future. Commissioned by the Department for Education, this project is part of a large on-going programme of research to understand ‘What Works in EdTech’.

The study will run from December 2021 until April 2022 and will involve:

• A light-touch rapid review of UK evidence.
• In-depth school and college case studies.
• Analysis of school and college monitoring and assessment data.
